The predicted fall of the titans

Its been a great round robin section of the cricket world cup 2011 held in India. But can India bring back glory after 28 long years. With the quarterfinals scheduled at the Motera in Ahmedabad, I expect a cracker of a game. And more so because the opponents : Australia. For 34 matches the formerly invincible had never tasted a defeat. And now it has come to them hard and bitter against the same opponents who beat them last in a world cup at Headingly. Pakistan.
The batting top order looks explosive with Sehwag and Sachin firing all guns blazing. Gambhir looks little rough at No.3 but he is fine. No comments on Yuvraj Singh. He has proved why he is a nightmare to not only Stuart Broad but numerous other bowlers. The catch is he is rolling hard now. When it comes to captain cool, he looks secure and but Virat Kohli has depressed me more than he has impressed me. The swashbuckling Pathan has not yet got a match to showcase his talents. But the bowling looks ordinary. Munaf looks like he has come to a net practice rather than to a world cup. Zaheer spearheads the bowling effectively. Nehra has been good so far but is inconsistent. Seasonals like Ashvin and Chawla haven't impressed much. Bhajji though is a class in himself.
Though the balance of the team looks OK, I still have serious doubts on the bowling. It lacks the sharpness and grit. The lacklusture performances against England and South Africa has been criticized widely in the media.
What needs to be seen is the response the Aussies have. They have to answer a few questions that were asked when Pakistan beat them comfortably on 19th. But whatever be the occasion....its just that.....INDIA  INDIA....Jeetega bhai Jeetega India Jeetega
